Another portrait for Julia Kay’s Portrait Party. This is Martin Beek. You can see some of Martin’s wonderful work on Flickr, here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/oxfordshire_church_photos/
This is a portrait of Julia Kay, founder of Julia Kay’s Portrait Party. The Portrait Party is an amazing online exchange among artists in which everyone draws, paints, or otherwise creates a non-photographic portrait of everyone else. Check it out here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/portraitparty/
The creative energy in this group is incredible, and I’m thrilled to be able to participate. More portraits coming up!

Every Day in May #21
I recently read Ben Macintyre’s fascinating book about Eddie Chapman (aka, Agent Zigzag), the British double agent who was awarded the Iron Cross by Hitler for his “outstanding success.” This drawing is from a photo of Zigzag taken shortly after his landing by parachute in Cambridgeshire. He was supposed to be starting his first mission for Hitler, but instead he spent several days in MI5’s secret interrogation center trying to convince the British he was on their side.
